About Me

Welcome to my world of art

After many years in the corporate world of high tech as a software engineer and later in real estate I'm now able to spend time every day on my art.

My painting style is intuitive,   I seldom have a theme or subject in mind.  I use experimentation and a playful ‘go with the flow’ attitude in my  work.  I love the interaction and vibration of colors and hope to provide a burst of color and motion.  Each stroke influences the next and then the next until the artwork informs a direction and a pleasant balance is reached.

Often bits of found objects, book pages, house plans, sewing patterns and hand-made papers find their way into my many mixed media layers,  My goal is to provide a visual interaction and simple enjoyment.

Austin is a great city to showcase your art.  Many venues rotate their artwork monthly with dates and availability changing every year.  I might have art hanging at:  The Old Bakery and Emporium - Congress and 10th or  The Hyde Park Grill,  I'm usually a part of the  Travis Heights Art Trail in the  South Congress area.  This art trail is - usually the first weekend in November.

A am a permanent artist at :

Mercer St Gallery - 330 Mercer St - Dripping Springs, Tx

My art studio was the best gift I have ever given myself.  The studio is always a mess - often shared by my grand children for their projects, but the dormer windows and 3 sides of light add to the joy of painting.

I often paint with unusual tools including this larger than it   looks in the photo cake spreader.  Additionally, I use a squeegee,   trowel, wire bristle brush, paper towels, and any mark making tool   that makes an interesting mark.  It's just way to much fun!

Inspiration

Inspiration comes from the dance of light on everyday objects, the rhythm of a favorite song,  the variations in the rock formations around Lake Travis where I live, my travels, and the joy spending time with  friends and family.

Techniques

I am continually trying new techniques.  I start each painting in pure play - letting my marks inform the next.  I collect old paper items that often show up as well as make my own designs on tissue paper.
